![]() |
Voss Slide Bearings consist of 3/32" thick glass filled PTFE laminated to a steel plate, most commonly 10 gage carbon steel. Two of these plates are used in a bearing assembly with the two glass filled PTFE surfaces sliding against each other. The maximum allowable design load for Voss Slide Bearings is 2000 psi. This type of bearings has frictional values ranging from approximately 9 % at a compressive load of 500 psi. to a 6% coefficient of friction at 2000 psi. Voss Slide Bearings are typically fabricated with holes and slots for guide bolts in the steel structure and welding lips for easy attachment to a steel structure. This type of bearing is not designed to handle any non - uniform load conditions. In an application that requires a non - uniform load condition, the lower element can be laminated to a Random Oriented Fiber Pad such as Fiberlast or a Cotton Duck Pad like Sorbtex. | |||||||||||||
